At the Old Davie School Historical Museum, we are always working on new projects, but we can’t do it alone. We greatly rely on the help of all our volunteers to accomplish everything we do here at the Old Davie School. And we can ALWAYS use more help.
There are many different ways to get involved in your community! Call
(954) 797-1044, or e-mail Andrea Rossow at operations@olddavieschool.org
for more information about the different volunteer opportunities at
the Old Davie School.
Do you love learning and talking about history?
Costumed docents (tour guides) lead groups of all ages through the
museum, explaining the significance of the historical artifacts in
our collection. Most tours are through the Old Davie School's Step
Back In Time program and take place weekday mornings. No prior knowledge
or experience is necessary—all training will be provided.
Can you paint a wall and hold a hammer?
The historic Walsh-Osterhoudt House is currently
being restored by volunteers every Saturday morning, from 8am-12pm.
People with experience in construction and home repair are particularly
needed, but anyone is welcome to lend a helping hand.
Do you love a party? From the bi-monthly
Art Socials to annual events like the Back to School Dinner and Generations
of Taste, there’s always something special going on at the Old Davie
School. At special events volunteers can help out in a variety of
ways, from cooking to decorating to helping out during the event itself.
Do you have other skills or talents? Volunteers are needed for a variety of other tasks at the Old Davie School. We’re also looking for volunteers undertake some projects in the office, as well as someone with graphic design experience to help out with the quarterly newsletter.
